Ever drive down Highway 501, Durham Road and wonder,
Why is that officer sitting on the side of the road working radar? He must be trying to make his quota for the week.
The Roxboro Police Department has implemented problem-oriented policing, here we identify a problem, then devise and implement a strategy to address the problem.
So Why is that officer sitting on the side of the road working radar?Because crash data compiled by the Highway Safety Research Center at the University of North Carolina/Chapel Hill, has found in 2002 there were 323 crashes reported in the City of Roxboro. Of those 323 crashes, 103 were directly attributed to Speeding. 69 of the 103 speed-related accidents were rear-end collisions resulting from the driver's inability to slow down or stop in time to avoid the collision. Selective enforcement is part of an overall strategy to ensure that the motoring public gets to their destination safely.
