The Roxboro City Council will hold a Public Hearing Tuesday June 11, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber of City Hall located at 105 S. Lamar Street. A copy of the proposed budget is available for public review in the City Clerk’s office.  Said Public Hearing is for the purpose of the Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2013-2014.

    Lake Warden:

    An employee in this class monitors activities such as land disturbances creating sediment and erosion problems, septic tank installation and maintenance, observance of buffer zones and boundaries, tree protection, and observance of boating and fishing regulations in and around the City owned class II and I lakes.

    Police Officer:  

    Performs law enforcement work in the municipal Police Department. Must be a citizen of US, 21 years of age, high school graduate, preferably a two-year associate degree and no criminal record, except for minor traffic offenses.

    Wastewater Equipment Mechanic:  

    Performs journey level work in the operation, installation, maintenance, and repair of large and specialized equipment and machinery either in the water treatment plant, wastewater treatment plant, or wastewater collection system.

    Tourism Development Authority (TDA)


    The City of Roxboro is taking applications for two (2) available positions on the Tourism Development Authority (TDA), which was created by both Person County and the City of Roxboro governing boards as required by NC General Statutes for the purpose of distribution of funds generated by the Hotel/Motel Occupancy Tax for travel and tourism activities.  The applicants must actively promote travel and tourism with Roxboro and Person County. 

    Position available:

    (1) Public Citizen      3 year term
    (1) Hotel/Motel Representative      3 year term

    Roxboro Planning Board Roxboro Board of Adjustment The Roxboro Planning Board, a voluntary board appointed by the Roxboro City Council, will have: one (1) regular board member vacancy. Generally the Board meets on the first Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m., unless otherwise posted. The Board makes recommendations on text amendments, special use permits, etc.

    The Roxboro Board of Adjustment, a voluntary quasi-judicial board appointed by the Roxboro City Council, will have: three (3) regular board member vacancies and one (1) alternate board member vacancy. The Board meets generally on the fourth Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m., unless otherwise posted. The Board makes decisions on variances, conditional use permits, etc.

    The City of Roxboro encourages applications from City residents only. If you are interested in a position on either Board you may contact the City Clerk by calling (336)599-3116 to request an application form, or you may print an application from the City’s web site: www.cityofroxboro.com.     Roxboro Housing Authority BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS VACANCY

    The Roxboro City Council solicits volunteers for the following commission: City of Roxboro Housing Authority Board of Commissioners

    • (3) - Three Position Available: 3 Year Terms
    • (1) – One Position Available: 2 Year Terms

    Duties: Actively set policies for the Housing Authority and insure the Housing Authority Director fulfills these policies, monitors operations of the Housing Authority in accordance with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
